Required Experience or TrainingValid Illinois Professional Educator License with School Social Worker EndorsementMust have been awarded from an accredited college or university a Bachelor's or Masters' degree in social work.POSITION DESCRIPTIONUnder the direction of the Office of Specialized Services, the school social worker enables students to achieve to their fullest potential academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally by assisting students to develop coping skills, increase self-esteem, improve interactive skills, and facilitate environmental changes that will enable successful functioning within the learning settingSchool social workers also provide crisis intervention as well as individual and group intervention services supporting mental health issues for students, school personnel and community/familyDuties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
PRIMARY FUNCTIONSoProvide evidenced based, crisis, individual and group interventions to students in needoConsultation services to faculty, co-team members, parents and other appropriate parties regarding the socio-cultural and emotional factors impacting on the student's learning experiencesoComplete diagnostic assessment for students needing initial evaluation or reevaluationoIndividual Education Conferences to help determine eligibility for special education programs and counseling services on all cases where social work services are recommended.oConduct professional development/training and workshops for teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.oProvision of leadership in developing and coordinating school-community partnerships that includes school-based and school-linked servicesoDevelopment and implementation of intervention and prevention programs that will assist in the reduction of at-risk studentsoParticipation in MTSS initiatives in the school environment to support student successoReferral to, and consultation with, appropriate community agencies; development and coordination of relevant community resources to address specific needs of the students and familiesoLinkage of services and intervention strategies to the classroom to enhance the child's overall educational development?Maintain valid and reliable records of all interactions with students Recommended Skills Consulting Crisis Intervention Education Leadership Professional Development Social Work Apply to this job. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
